NEWEST ROAST! Rwanda Abakundakawa - Medium-Dark

Dark chocolate, dried fruit, nutty cocoa, and a thread of anise. Grown at 1,795 meters on the volcanic slopes of Rwanda's Gakenke district, washed processing, Bourbon cultivar.

The cooperative

Abakundakawa was registered in 2004 starting with 180 farmers. Today it's nearly 2,000 members strong, running two of their own washing stations. The co-op pays dividends back to its members and reinvests in local infrastructure — including funding a clean water project for a nearby hospital. Through a partnership with an NGO, members also receive dairy cows, a direct investment in household food security. It's organic-certified and Fair Trade at the producer level, not just a label on the bag.

This specific lot

This is a Women's Lot - grown and processed by members of Abakundakawa's two women's associations, Duhingekawa and Abanyameraka. Beyond coffee, these associations run a tailoring center and income-training programs, building economic resilience that doesn't depend on a single harvest. We're buying the Women's Lot designation as it's structured by our green coffee supplier; we don't have farmer-level wage data yet, and we'll add it if and when we do.

Ethiopia Oromia Union Washed - Light Roast

The Farm & Community

The Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (OCFCU) was founded in 1999 to enable smallholder farmers to export coffee directly. Today it includes 217 primary cooperatives representing more than 200,000 farming households across the Oromia Regional State — home to approximately 65% of Ethiopia's coffee-growing land.

Impact

OCFCU returns 70% of net profits to member cooperatives, who pass 70% on to farmers — paid three times per season. The union also invests in schools, health centers, and clean water projects.

In the cup: floral aromatics, tea-like brightness, and delicate stone fruit. Notes of jasmine, candied lemon, and honey sweetness.

Prismatic is our house blend — built from origins sourced through the same farmer-owned cooperatives and ethical marketplaces that inform everything we do. Each component is sourced with a commitment to living wages, price stability, and long-term relationships with the communities that grow it. A blend without a named farm isn't a shortcut here — it's a commitment to finding the right combination of origins that holds up across brewing methods and keeps the values consistent.

Designed originally as a traditional espresso blend, Prismatic has proven itself across formats. It's built around sweetness, silky body, and restrained acidity — smooth enough to drink black, rich enough to hold up alongside milk, and exceptional as cold brew where its cola and tamarind flavors fully emerge.

In the cup: ripe red cherry, malty sweetness, full body. A dark roast for people who want depth without bitterness.

Process: Natural and Washed

Guatemala ASOPCE - Medium Roast

The Farm & Community

ASOPCE — the Association of Specialty Coffee Producers of Huehuetenango — was founded in 2015 to unify ~450 smallholder producers across the remote mountain communities of Huehuetenango. Each family manages their own wet milling and patio drying. Women represent approximately 30% of membership, managing or owning their own production units.

Impact

ASOPCE provides technical assistance, commercialization, and access to credit — placing coffees in international markets at fair prices and supporting long-term livelihoods.

In the cup: a medium roast that settles into dulce de leche sweetness, balancing dried cherry and chocolate into a rounded, approachable cup. Notes of caramel and praline throughout.

Elevation: 1,500–2,050 MASL

Process: Washed

Cultivar: Catuí, Bourbon, Pache, Caturra

Impact: Women-owned, Organic practices, Co-op member credit access

OUT OF STOCK - Mexico Sierra Azul - Medium-Dark Roast

This wonderful coffee is out of stock and thus rotating out for the season. Expect an UPDATE SOON on the next amazing coffee and farm cooperative to take its place!

Café Sierra Azul was founded in 2010 by young people in Chiapas, Mexico looking for ways to build sustainable livelihoods in their own community. Located within the El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve — home to the largest evergreen cloud forest in Mesoamerica — the cooperative now has around 300 members, the vast majority of them young people and women. Through Sierra Azul, members access better markets, financing, technical assistance, and community development projects that wouldn't be available to them individually.

This is what farmer-owned looks like in practice: benefits that stay where the coffee grows.

In the cup: rich and versatile across roast levels. As a medium-dark, expect dark chocolate, toasted nuts, vanilla, caramel, and nutmeg — with a lush crema that makes it exceptional as espresso, clean as a batch brew, and beautiful alongside milk.

Cultivar: Typica, Bourbon, Mundo Novo, Geisha
